For this months art blog I’ve put together some illustrations, party ideas and a lovely read all for the kids … and for those who are still a kid at heart.
I love bold and intricate designs for children’s bedrooms, especially the large bear illustration (by Claire Scully) that has pictures within pictures.
Also check out this homemade chalk, making these would be so much fun and a great way to make art and be creative with kids. You could even draw outside with them for a fun activity or party and then easily wash them away.
For other party ideas I think these newspaper boats look lovely along with the bunting and sea-like tablecloth. You could even fill the boats with sweets and use them as bowls.
I have also discovered some beautiful broaches and a cushion (I’d secretly like to buy) that would look so lovely on a kid’s jumper and in their room. I really like the idea of bringing illustrations off the page and into everyday fashion and home decoration, keeps the imagination alive.
Yesterday evening, when feeling a little tired, I picked up ‘This Moose Belongs To Me’ by Oliver Jeffers. I had been putting off reading it because I knew once I had, I’d never read it for the first time again. The illustrations and story are equally as beautiful as the exquisite front cover. The story follows and little boy and a moose that he feels is his pet, it explores nature and how we can’t truly posses it. Oliver Jeffers is a massive inspiration to me, he always brings wit, depth and stunning illustrations to each of his books. A lovely read for the kids … and even adults.
What would you select for a children’s room?
